In what was arguably the team's most impressive outing this season, the Edmonton Oilers went head-to-head with the reigning President's Trophy champions on the road and came out on top with a 4-1 victory.
Jordan Eberle, Kurtis Foster and Linus Omark each contributed a goal and an assist while Magnus Paajarvi added a goal and Andrew Cogliano had a pair of helpers. Devan Dubyk stopped 40 of 41 shots in goal for the win.
The first penalty of the game went to the Oilers when Jordan Eberle tripped up Vancouver captain Henrik Sedin while Eberle himself was falling in order to prevent a quality scoring chance in the Edmonton zone.
Late in the man advantage, Bieksa teed up a blast from the left point that was snagged out of the air by Oilers starting goaltender Devan Dubnyk.
Dubnyk made another big stop with 11:22 to go in the first, getting the paddle down to deny Alex Burrows right on the doorstep.
The Oilers went on their first power play of the game late in the period after Aaron Rome was sent off for tripping. With 18 seconds left in the power play, Kurtis Foster teed up a blast that went in and out of the net behind Canucks goaltender Cory Schneider so quickly that it had to go upstairs for video review.
Shots on goal after one period were 11-9 for the Canucks but Edmonton had the 1-0 edge on the scoreboard.
Edmonton went on the attack in the early minutes of the second period. The team's best chance came after Omark fed Cogliano in the slot but his shot just narrowly missed the mark. On the same sequence, Victor Oreskovich upended Cogliano at the side of the Vancouver net and received a hooking penalty, putting Edmonton back on the power play.
On the ensuing man advantage, Jordan Eberle didn't take long to convert as 12 seconds in, he took a feed at the side of the net and calmly slipped it past Schneider for the goal, giving Edmonton a 2-0 lead.
With 11:28 to go in the second, J-F Jacques and Tanner Glass dropped the gloves for a spirited fight.
The Oilers increased their lead to 3-0 after a beautiful three-way passing play between Hartikainen, Cogliano and Omark. Hartikainen made a beauty pass back across the slot to Omark who slipped it into the yawning cage for the goal.
Vancouver got one back with 4:40 to play in the second. Alex Burrows flicked a wrister from the right faceoff dot over the shoulder of Dubnyk to narrow the gap to two, Canucks trailing Oilers 3-1.
With 3:31 to go in the middle frame, Hartikainen broke in alone on the Canucks goal but was chopped down by Christian Ehroff. The result of the play was a penalty shot for the Finnish forward.
On the penalty shot, Hartikainen shot it wide of the net.
Edmonton had a 10-9 lead in shots in the second period and over 40 minutes, Canucks had 20 shots, Oilers 19.
In the opening two minutes of the third period, Dubnyk had to make a trio of stops off the Canucks' Raymond, Torres and Tambellini and then another off of Ballard kept the game at 3-1.
Just over five minutes into the period, the Canucks had an 8-4 lead in shots over Edmonton during the frame.
At the period's midway point, the line of VandeVelde, Paajarvi and Omark continued their dominant play and it eventually led to the team's fourth goal.
First, Schneider made a brilliant move on the backhand off Omark on the rush. Moments later, Omark spied Paajarvi at the right side of the net. Paajarvi quickly deposited it in the back of the net to make it 4-1.
