Oilers 4, Ducks 0
Edmonton Oilers 4, Anaheim Ducks 0

Edmonton's Raffi Torres crushes Ducks forward Rob Niedermayer into the boards. The Edmonton Oilers got off to a fast start and didn't look back, defeating the Anaheim Ducks 4-0 at the Honda Center on Sunday night. The win completed an Oilers sweep of their home-and-home series with Anaheim.

Edmonton had an early power play after Corey Perry received two minutes for goaltender interference.

On the ensuing man advantage, the majority of the play was in the Anaheim zone. The Oilers built momentum through the five-on-four power play but could not score.

About a minute after the penalty expired, Raffi Torres swooped in and swept home the puck low blocker side past an outstretched Giguere.

Anaheim's penalty parade continued late in the period. Corey Perry slough-footed Ladislav Smid in front of the Edmonton net and was sent off for tripping.

On the ensuing power play, Robert Nilsson fired a shot from the right side that ricocheted off Penner in front and beat Giguere to move Edmonton in front 2-0.

Shots after one were 10-4 for Edmonton.

Early in the second, Bertuzzi received a penalty for goaltender interference to put Edmonton back on the power play.

On the power play, Joni Pitkanen blasted a shot from the high slot that beat Giguere with Penner and Torres in front providing the screen.

About a minute after the goal, Anaheim skated back on the attack. Getzlaf had a wide open net but his one-timer was blocked by Allan Rourke.

Edmonton took the play back up ice and Horcoff dished the puck over to Gilbert whose shot from the right circle beat Giguere. With the goal, Edmonton now had a 4-0 lead on the Ducks.

With Gilbert in the box and six minutes left in the period, Brodziak created a turnover at the blueline and broke in alone on Giguere. His shot was stopped by the left pad of the Anaheim netminder.

Anaheim started to carry the play through the latter half of the second period, closing the gap in shots to 15-14 but strong play from Mathieu Garon.

By the end of the second, Anaheim led 18-16 in shots but the Oilers still had the 4-0 lead.

Garon was tested several times in the third period. His stiffest test came during a scramble in front of the Edmonton net as Andy McDonald tried to put the puck in but the Oilers netminder stood tall.

Anaheim continued to try and break Garon's shutout bid to try and salvage something from the night. Bertuzzi, Kunitz and McDonald all had chances to score. During the same sequence, Kent Huskins teed up a shot from the right point and Garon stuck out his left pad to make the save. Rourke was without a stick in front but handed the puck to Garon.

NOTES: Patrick Thoresen and Fernando Pisani played their first games this season... With his goal, Raffi Torres increased his scoring streak to three games... Stortini's assist on the goal was his first career NHL assist.
