Los Angeles 4, Edmonton 1
Edmonton Oilers 1, Los Angeles Kings 4

Jarret Stoll potted his first goal of the season but the Los Angeles Kings rattled off four unanswered goals including a pair by Patrick O'Sullivan in a 4-1 win on Saturday night at the Staples Center.

Roloson made a pair of good stops in the early going. First, he denied Alexander Frolov on a close deke attempt. Several minutes later he had to be sharp in dropping down to take the five-hole away from Derek Armstrong.

At the conclusion of a tripping penalty to Marc Pouliot, the Oilers forward scooped up the puck right after coming out of the box.

Pouliot charged towards the Kings net unimpeded and attempted a backhand deke on Kings starting goaltender Jason LaBarbera. The puck almost snuck across the line but the Kings netminder was able to squeeze the pads and keep it out.

Several shifts later, Dustin Penner made a great move in the slot ot get a shot on LaBarbera. The save was made but a penalty was assessed to Michal Handzus who held up Penner on the play.

On the ensuing power play, Ales Hemsky intercepted a Kings clearing attempt before feeding Jarret Stoll with a cross-ice pass. Stoll blasted the puck in on the one-timer.

1:30 later, the Kings tied the game. Stoll actually won a faceoff in the Kings end but Patrick O'Sullivan swooped in and picked up the puck, chipped it past Grebeshkov and broke down the ice on a two-on-one opportunity. O'Sullivan blasted a shot past Roloson for the goal.

Shots after one period were 11-10 for Los Angeles.

The first part of the second period involved not a lot of passing but more stick whacking and hacking. The shots were only two apiece through the first 10 minutes of the period.

Jack Johnson had the best chance of the period when his point shot was tipped by an Oilers stick on its way to the net and changed direction. Roloson was able to spin around and glove the puck before it eluded him.

Just past the midway point of the second, Los Angeles struck to make it a 2-1 game. Ladislav Nagy fired a shot past Roloson for the goal.

A couple minutes later, the Kings extended their lead to 3-1. Anze Kopitar's backhander from the right corner ricocheted off Roloson in the crease and trickled into the back of the net.

After two, the Kings had a 22-20 lead in shots.

Edmonton got some pressure early in the third period when the line of Torres, Hemsky and Horcoff buzzed around the Kings zone. Hemsky's shot from the slot was turned away by LaBarbera after he circled the net to create an opening.

Several minutes later, Andrew Cogliano wrapped the puck around and looked to have scored. LaBarbera sprawled across and took the goal away. The play was reviewed but after a closer look revealed the puck never crossed the line.

Late in the third, Patrick O'Sullivan scored a highlight reel goal to move Los

Angeles in front 4-1. His initial shot was kicked away by Roloson but he did a no-look backhander on goal for the rebound and it found its way into the open cage.
