EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Being the spoiler suits the Minnesota Wild just fine.
"Why not, you know?" right wing Pierre-Marc Bouchard said. "We want to try and make it harder for the other teams."
Bouchard scored the tying goal, and Brian Rolston got the winner in the third period as the 11th place Minnesota Wild came back to beat Edmonton 3-2 on Tuesday night. That prevented the third-place Oilers from gaining a share of the Northwest Division lead.
It was the Wild's second win in six games but their fourth straight victory in Edmonton.
"To let it slip like that is disappointing," defenseman Chris Pronger said.
Wes Walz also scored a short-handed goal for Minnesota, 5-2 against the Oilers this season.
With the Wild trailing 2-1 to start the third, Bouchard tied the game with a backhander off a breakaway between Dwayne Roloson's legs after getting a step on Oilers defenseman Steve Staios at 4:18. Rolston went to the same spot, with Staios again close by, at 11:11 to score his seventh winning goal.
"We can't dwell on it,' Staios said.
Roloson started his 11th straight game for Edmonton, falling to 4-4-3 and 1-2 against his former team after being traded from the Wild on March 8.
The Oilers, who outshot Minnesota 25-16, are seventh in the Western Conference with nine games remaining.
"It's another example that you have to take care of every aspect of our game," Oilers coach Craig MacTavish said. "Otherwise it ends up being a loss."
Walz opened the scoring off a short-handed chance in the second period before the Oilers answered with two power-play goals.
The first period was scoreless and penalty free.
Edmonton forward Ethan Moreau crushed Andrei Zyuzin along the side boards in the second period, sending the defenseman on a slow glide to the Wild bench after he stayed down for 1 minute. Moreau also took a cross check from Bouchard to the left temple that wasn't penalized.
Notes: Edmonton RW Ales Hemsky left after one shift in the second period with a strained lower back. ... Minnesota plays in Vancouver on Wednesday. ... The teams play one more game, April 6 in Minnesota.
