EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Pierre-Marc Bouchard listened to his coach's message to shoot more and ended up setting a team record.
Bouchard scored twice in a 16-second span late in the first period, and the Minnesota Wild beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 Friday night.
"Everything was going my way," Bouchard said. "It was huge to come here and get those two points."
Marc Chouinard, Pascal Dupuis, Andrei Zyuzin and Wes Walz had the other goals for Minnesota, which beat Edmonton for the third time in four meetings this season and moved within five points of the Oilers in the Northwest Division.
Wild captain Brian Rolston said Bouchard, who has points in three of his last four games, is in the zone.
"He's got his confidence back," Rolston said. "You can see that in his game."
Dwayne Roloson made 23 saves for the Wild to end a personal four-game losing streak with his first win since Jan. 3.
"We've got to get this guy back on track," Minnesota coach Jacques Lemaire said. "He was solid."
Raffi Torres, Radek Dvorak and Todd Harvey scored for Edmonton, finished 0-for-9 on the power play and lost its second straight. The Wild's top-ranked penalty-killing unit has held the Oilers to one power-play goal in 23 chances this season.
"We made mistake after mistake with the puck," Oilers coach Craig MacTavish said. "They exposed a lot of the weakness on our team."
Chouinard opened the scoring 8:34 into the game, as he swatted at a puck on the Wild's second shot that went to video review before it was confirmed a goal. Bouchard made scored on the power play at 18:51 and then added an even-strength goal at 19:07 to make it 3-0.
Torres got the Oilers on the board at 3:53 of the second, and Dvorak pulled them within a goal just over 3 minutes later.
However, Alex Hemsky turned the puck over to set up Dupuis with Minnesota's third goal at 11:42, and Zyuzin restored the Wild's three-goal lead on a power-play score with 12 seconds left in the period.
Edmonton goalie Mike Morrison was pulled after the second period, having allowed five goals on 24 shots. Ty Conklin replaced him in the third, in his first appearance since Jan. 14.
"They really kind of got us running around," Morrison said. "They were getting the breaks and the bounces."
Harvey pulled the Oilers within 5-3 at 8:37 of the third. Walz capped the scoring with an empty-netter at 18:04.
Edmonton center Marty Reasoner was injured after sliding to block Todd White's shot that went off his stomach in the third.
