EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) _ Petr Nedved sent all the Edmonton Oilers fans home happy, especially one young supporter who got a very potent hockey stick.

Nedved and Igor Ulanov scored third-period goals 29 seconds apart to help the Oilers beat the Phoenix Coyotes 4-2 Sunday night.

Nedved, who also had two assists, including a nice setup on Ulanov's winner, tossed his stick into the crowd after he was chosen as the first star of the game. It eventually made its way into the hands of a young Oilers fan.

``Perfect, that's who I was aiming for,'' Nedved said of the child, who was waiting for an autograph.

Just 28 seconds after Phoenix captain Shane Doan tied the game with his second goal of the night, Ulanov put the Oilers back ahead with a shot that beat Brent Johnson at 7:15.

Nedved made it 4-2 at 7:44.

``As a group, we get the job done,'' Nedved said. ``Everybody chipped in and that's how we've been winning here _ everybody plays the role, everybody plays hard. That's the only way you're going to get on a tear that we've been (on).

``It's been a lot of fun.''

Ulanov added an assist, Mike York scored his 16th and Fernando Pisani also chipped in a goal and an assist for the Oilers.

Pisani notched his fifth goal in four games when he scored on the power play in the first period and then assisted on York's goal at 17:18 of the second period.

Edmonton has earned points in 16 consecutive games.

``The last few games, everybody's stepped up,'' Pisani said. ``Petr, Uli with the two big goals. It's huge to find different guys stepping up because we need the two points. We can't them slip away.''

The Oilers are tied for seventh place in the Western Conference with St. Louis at 87 points, two more than ninth-place Nashville. St. Louis and Nashville each have four games remaining, while Edmonton will play three times in the final week of the regular season.

Edmonton plays in St. Louis on Tuesday.

``Now we go on the road and the season hangs in the balance, as it has seemingly for the last month here,'' Oilers coach Craig MacTavish said.

Daymond Langkow assisted on both of Doan's goals. Phoenix has lost three straight by a combined score of 11-2.

``It's disappointing in the fact that we don't respond,'' Doan said. ``We responded to their (goal) in the first. When you tie it up after a battle, the next shift is huge and we didn't answer.''

Edmonton took a 1-0 lead at 9:21 when Pisani got in front of Johnson and slid in a pass from Ryan Smyth, who was parked behind the net.

Phoenix needed just 37 seconds to respond as Doan buried his team-high 26th of the season. Langkow accompanied the Coyotes captain on an odd-man rush and sent a nice pass to Doan, who beat Jussi Markkanen.

Markkanen started for the second time in eight games and made 25 saves.
