CHICAGO (AP) -- Not even Ethan Moreau was sure how he scored the go-ahead goal Sunday night.

Moreau snapped a tie 55 seconds into the third period and the Edmonton Oilers rallied from a two-goal deficit for a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Moreau beat goaltender Steve Passmore with a high shot from a sharp angle, somehow getting his stick on a pass from Shawn Horcoff, who slid the puck out from behind the net to the right side of the crease.

The goal gave the Oilers, who rallied from a two-goal deficit, a 4-3 lead.

"Hork's really good from behind the net," Moreau said. "I yelled, he threw it out. I didn't really see the goal.

"I don't think it went straight in to tell you the truth. I think I whacked at it and it ricocheted."

Passmore appeared to lean the wrong way on the shot, letting it sail over his left shoulder. But he also wasn't sure what happened.

"I didn't see the puck," Passmore said. "I really don't know. I thought we had the play covered, but maybe I played it wrong. I think I heard it deflect off something."

Tommy Salo made 22 saves for the Oilers, who have won two straight and are undefeated in three games.

Brad Isbister, Jarret Stoll and Ryan Smyth also scored for the Oilers, all in a 2:04 span in the second period. Stoll and Smyth had short-handed goals 41 seconds apart during the same Edmonton minor penalty.

The outburst erased a 2-0 Chicago lead.

"They were huge," Stoll said. "Two quick ones like that get your team going and bounce right back into the game. Those two short-handed goals won us the game, so to speak."

Alex Zhamnov, Deron Quint and Nathan Dempsey scored for the Blackhawks, who are 4-15-4-4 in their last 27 games. Passmore, Chicago's backup, started his second straight game and made 17 saves.

"The bounces went against us tonight," Chicago coach Brian Sutter said. "We had chances and should have buried them, too."

Zhamnov opened the scoring during a four-on-four 3:20 into the first period. He cut off the right boards, fired from the circle and beat Salo.

Quint made it 2-0 at 10:38 when he picked off a clearing attempt and fired a low shot past Salo.

The Oilers came back with three goals in a 2:04 span late in the second period to take a 3-2 lead.

Isbister tipped a feed from Smyth between Passmore's legs at 11:57 to cut it to 2-1.

Stoll tied it 2-all at 13:20 with the first of two short-handed goals by Edmonton, both during the same interference penalty to the Oilers' Scott Ferguson. Stoll fired a shot from the left circle that beat Passmore.

Smyth made it 3-2 with a tip-in 41 seconds later. As he drove to the net, Smyth redirected Horcoff's pass just beyond Passmore's outstretched skate.

Dempsey tied it 3-3 with 1:36 left in the second with a screened shot from the high slot.
