EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- The Calgary Flames are finding ways to win the close ones.

Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist, and Miikka Kiprusoff made 20 saves as the Calgary Flames beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 on Sunday night.

"This was a game that, in the past, we might not have won," Iginla said. "But this year, we're finding ways to win these important games. It feels great."

Kiprusoff, who made 30 saves in a 2-1 win over the Oilers on Dec. 23, is now 11-3-1 with the league's best goals-against average and best save percentage.

Iginla set up Dean McAmmond's second-period goal and scored in the third for the Flames, who are 10-2-1-0 in their last 13.

Mike York scored late in the game for the Oilers, who have just one win in their last six game (1-4-1-0) and two wins in their last 10 (2-5-3-0).

"We played two very mediocre periods," York said. "I don't know if we didn't have our legs our what. We should've been ready but that wasn't the case."

The Flames are 4-1 against the Oilers this season. The teams meet for a sixth and final time on March 9 in Calgary. Last season, Calgary won the series 3-2.

"Edmonton beats Calgary all the time," said Flames coach Darryl Sutter, whose club has missed the playoffs the last seven seasons. "That is the history of the Flames not making the playoffs. So this is a measuring stick."

McAmmond opened the scoring with his ninth of the season with two minutes left in the second, one-timing a shot after a cross-ice pass from Iginla.

Iginla made it 2-0 eight minutes into the third with his 12th goal, chipping the puck past Edmonton defenseman Jason Smith, than racing down the right wing and ripping a shot past Oilers goaltender Tommy Salo.

Iginla has two goals and five assists in five games against Edmonton this season.

York broke Kiprusoff's shutout with a power-play goal with 5:06 left in the third. He flipped in his own rebound for his first power-play goal of the season.

Adam Oates picked up an assist, his third in 14 games as a member of the Oilers.

Kiprusoff made a nice blocker save on Brad Isbister in the opening minute of the game but wasn't tested often, facing only eight shots in the first two periods.

Kiprusoff stopped Shawn Horcoff's short-range backhander and gloved Steve Staios' point shot as the Oilers started to press three minutes into the third. He stopped Ryan Smyth on a short-handed breakaway two minutes later.
