LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Kings became the latest team to capitalize on the NHL's worst penalty-killing unit.

Lubomir Visnovsky ended a 20-game goal drought during a power play in the second period, and fellow defenseman Joe Corvo scored the go-ahead goal with 4:09 remaining to end a 49-game scoring drought as the Kings beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 Tuesday night.

It was the 13th straight game in which the Oilers surrendered at least one power-play goal, a franchise record. The Oilers have killed off only 72.2 percent of their short-handed situations this season -- and 33 of 52 during the current streak.

The Oilers have allowed at least one power-play goal in 25 of their first 31 games.

"I don't have an answer for that," center Adam Oates said. "I've been through a couple of streaks like that before, but I don't think it was 13 in a row. Obviously there have been mistakes and breakdowns, but it seems like something different every time."

Jon Sim also scored and Alexander Frolov added an empty-net goal, helping the Kings win their fourth straight home game. Cristobal Huet made 22 saves in his second straight start in place of for Roman Cechmanek, who is sidelined because of an injured hip.

"This is one of those games after a long trip that are always a challenge," Kings coach Andy Murray said. "I thought Edmonton was better than us in the first period, but we stayed patient and it paid off. We got key goals when we needed them."

Alex Hemsky and Shawn Horcoff scored for Edmonton and Tommy Salo made 21 saves.

The Oilers tied the game at 2-all 86 seconds into the third when Hemsky scored his eighth of the season.

Corvo scored what proved to be the winner on a wrist shot from the right point that bounced off the leg of Oilers defenseman Steve Staios and past the glove of Salo. It was Corvo's first goal since Feb. 13.

"We got some big goals from the guys," Martin Straka said. "We struggled for the first 20 minutes, but we picked it up after that."

Visnovsky's goal gave the Kings a 2-1 lead with less than seven minutes left in the second period. He took a slapshot from just inside the blue line that skipped through Salo's legs just as Staios cross-checked Trent Klatt in front of the crease.

Horcoff opened the scoring at 13:56 of the first period with his fifth goal.

The Kings tied it 63 seconds after the first intermission when Sim converted the rebound of his own shot.

"We got out of the first period in good shape, but then we gave the puck away three or four times in the first minute of the second and they get a goal to get back in the game," Edmonton coach Craig MacTavish said. "The game was there for the taking."
