GAME: Edmonton Oilers (13-17-7-0) at Minnesota Wild (14-14-10-0).TIME: Friday, 8 p.m. EST.
Despite riding a franchise-record nine-game unbeaten streak, it's been almost two weeks since the Minnesota Wild have tasted victory.
Coming off four straight ties, the Wild will again try to get above .500 for the first time this season when they complete a home-and-home series with the visiting Edmonton Oilers.
Including Tuesday's 2-2 tie against the Oilers, the Wild have tied five of their last six games, with their last win coming on Dec. 20, 5-2 over Columbus.
Against the Oilers on Tuesday, the Wild squandered a one-goal lead late as Edmonton's Mike York scored the game-tying goal at 17:43 of the third period.
Defensemen Nick Schultz and Willie Mitchell scored for the Wild. Schultz scored late in the second period when his backhander deflected off the stick of Edmonton forward Ethan Moreau and eluded goaltender Tommy Salo. It was his first goal in 65 games.
"On a team that wins, a team that's getting points in the standings, you always get goals from guys that you don't expect," Minnesota coach Jacques Lemaire said. "The teams that don't, well, they're lower in the standings."
Minnesota's nine-game run (4-0-5) is the longest current streak in the NHL and is tied for the third longest in the league this season.
Edmonton, meanwhile, has just one win in its last seven games (1-4-2-0) and two wins in its last 11 (2-5-4). However, the Oilers, who are starting a six-game road trip, are 12-1-4-2 all-time against Minnesota.
York, the team's scoring leader with 28 points, has scored in four consecutive games, one off his career high.
"When you get on a little streak, it bounces your way," York said. "That's the way it goes sometimes. Fortunately, they're going in for me right now."
York scored two goals on Tuesday, giving him 12 this season.
