CHICAGO - Marian Hossa scored with 3:16 remaining in overtime to defeat the Edmonton Oilers in a come-from-behind 3-2 victory.

The Oilers had Nikolai Khabibulin starting goal while Chicago countered with Ray Emery.

Just under four minutes in, Magnus Paajarvi cleared the puck over the glass from his own zone which resulted in a delay-of-game penalty and

45 seconds into the penalty, Lennart Petrell picked up a turnover off the stick of Duncan Keith and broke in alone. Emery made a nice save on the first attempt but Jeff Petry swooped in and put home the rebound to give Edmonton the 1-0 lead.

With 15 seconds left in the Paajarvi penalty, Chicago got that one right back. Patrick Kane picked up the puck in between the hash marks and backhanded it. The puck redirected off the stick of Ladislav Smid on its way to the net, going lower blocker side past Khabibulin to tie it up.

Mark Fistric took a boarding penalty at the 6:15 mark to put Chicago right back on the power play.

Dan Carcillo hammers Petry in the corner of the Oilers zone and the Oilers defenceman skates off gingerly.

With 5:04 to play in the opening frame, Brandon Saad gets two minutes for hooking Fistric deep in the Edmonton zone, giving the Oilers their first power play of the game.

Shots on goal after one period were 9 to 8 for Chicago.

The Blackhawks had a couple of good chances in the opening two minutes of the second period but were unable to solve Khabibulin.

Khabibulin makes another big save, this one off Carcillo on a partial break. Through the first seven minutes of the period, Chicago held a modest 3-0 shot edge.

The Blackhawks had a fourth shot on Khabibulin with nine minutes to play in the middle frame. Meanwhile, the Oilers did not have their first shot of the period until just over eight minutes remained on the clock.

With 7:21 to go, Saad took his second penalty of the game and gave the Oilers a chance to get some offence going with their second man advantage.

The Oilers converted on that power play to take a 2-1 lead. Sam Gagner made a nice pass across the slot right on the stick of Nail Yakupov for the goal.

Shots on goal after two periods were 18 to 14 for Chicago.

Chicago looked to tie the game up 2:24 into the final frame. Viktor Stalberg poked at the puck in the crease and it slipped under Khabibulin's pad. After a video review, it was ruled a goal.

With 12:20 to go in the third, Johnny Oduya gets two minutes for slashing the stick of Eberle, giving the Oilers another chance to move back in the lead with the power play but the Blackhawks were able to kill it off without incident.

Just past the midway point, the puck hopped over the stick of Ben Eager as he looked to have an open net for a split second.

Shots on goal after three periods were 28 to 19 for the Blackhawks.

Khabibulin made a big stop early in the extra frame on a slow-moving puck off the stick of Kane. About a minute later, Marian Hossa managed to get the puck past the outstretched Oilers netminder for the victory.
