TOP 5 - ANDY MOOG MOMENTS
#4 - 1980 - Draft Year and First Start

Andy Moog was drafted in the seventh round, 132nd overall in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. He started the season in the Central Hockey League with the Wichita Wind before getting called up by the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 19, 1980. He made his first NHL appearance against the L.A. Kings on Dec. 23 for two minutes after Eddie Mio left the game early due to an injury. He faced one shot and allowed one breakaway goal by Mike Murphy in a 7-4 loss. Moog got his first NHL start on Dec. 28, 1980 against Philadelphia where the Oilers lost, 2-1.
