Oilers Hockey Clinic Presented by Cenovus Energy Heads to Lac La Biche

The town of Lac La Biche will soon be painted orange and blue as the Oilers event team and Community Partnerships Staff head north for the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Clinic presented by Cenovus Energy.

Held at the Bold Center over the weekend of May 4-6, this clinic is free of charge to 100 lucky participants and gives players aged nine to 13 the opportunity to experience high-calibre training while further developing their skills.

“This clinic was awesome, my son loved it!” said Annie Jackson, a parent from the 2010 Bonnyville Hockey Clinic. “It was great for the community of Bonnyville and for our kids to have an opportunity like this.”

“The Edmonton Oilers take great pride in the relationships we enjoy with the people who live and work in the communities of Oil Country,” said Oilers President and COO Patrick LaForge. “Thanks to the generosity of Cenovus Energy we are able to bring a top-notch hockey development clinic to the young hockey players that play in arenas all over northern Alberta, especially our friends in Lac La Biche.”

To help kick-off the weekend festivities, all Lac La Biche community members are invited to a free welcome BBQ held on Friday night at the Bold Center. Hockey clinic participants will have the chance to register while the community enjoys free food, a fun atmosphere and an Edmonton Oilers player and Oilers Alumni duo onsite to meet and mingle with guests. The Oilers Octane and Oilers Event Staff will also be on-hand with the famed Oilers Fanboni, games and giveaways for all age groups.

"Cenovus is excited to once again participate with the Oilers in bringing the clinic to young hockey players in northern Alberta," said Alan Reid, Senior Vice-President, Christina Lake Oil Sands. "Lac La Biche is an important community for Cenovus and it’s great that the clinic is being held here. We hope to see you at the barbecue and throughout the weekend at the Bold Center."

The Edmonton Oilers Hockey Clinic will follow on Saturday and Sunday featuring on-ice instruction, dry land training and nutrition counseling to help further the development of each participant. Oilers Grassroots Staff, Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada will be onsite to ensure the students have a great learning experience while having fun.

All players aged nine to 13 that are interested in participating, male or female, are invited to register at edmontonoilers.com by 5:00pm MDT on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. The lucky participants will be randomly drawn from all of the entries.
