COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The familiar sounds of the goal horn, the smell of fresh ice and a lavender hue at rinks around the NHL – it must be October!

Keeping with tradition, the lavender Hockey Fights Cancer logos will pop up on player helmets, rink boards, and on special ties throughout October to commemorate Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Month. Through Hockey Fights Cancer, the NHL and the NHLPA are committed to raising funds and awareness for hockey’s most important fight.

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation’s Rally Against Cancer fundraiser adds a bit of Oil Country flair to the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative. Spearheaded by the Oilers Ladies, Rally Against Cancer gives fans the opportunity to purchase a unique Oilers item in support of a worthy cause. On October 24, as the Oilers take on the Washington Capitals, fans will have the opportunity to purchase limited-edition, Oilers mittens for $20 a pair with funds being directed to Kids with Cancer’s Brainworks program and the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
Established in 2001, the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) continues the Oilers legacy of giving back by contributing its unique resources and financial support to charitable organizations that serve the communities of Northern Alberta.  Led by a dedicated community Board of Directors, the EOCF has developed a number of programs and partnerships that target those who need it most.

The EOCF raises its funds through a variety of fundraising initiatives that take place during Oilers home games and the generous contributions of Oilers fans and friends.

The Foundation gives back in excess of $1 million annually to charitable organizations registered with Revenue Canada whose programs support education and health and wellness for youth throughout Oil Country.
