The Edmonton Oilers have joined forces with one of the most highly respected and longest running hockey schools in the world, Okanagan Hockey School.
Young hockey players between the ages of 5 through 16 can register for Oilers Hockey School and the chance to experience NHL caliber training. Instructors include former NHL and WHL talent with special guest appearances from Edmonton Oilers and Oil Kings coaches and players.
Since 1963, Okanagan Hockey School has focused on providing leading edge, top quality hockey instruction in a positive and supportive environment. As well as providing comprehensive on-ice training, the Oilers Hockey School will provide players with the newest off-ice training techniques, core strength exercises, and seminars ranging from motivation to nutrition.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
HOCKEY INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM
At Oilers Hockey School, the Regular and Elite Programs consist of the following:

HOCKEY INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMAt Oilers Hockey School, the Regular and Elite Programs consist of the following:
- Full day camp running from Sunday to Saturday
- Professional power skating instruction using leading edge equipment and methods
- Instruction in wrist, backhand, snap and slap shots
- Video analysis of skating and shooting
- Private individual conference with an assigned instructor
- Comprehensive evaluation and player’s handbook
- Total of 12 ice sessions (Elite and Regular)
ELITE SKATERS
The Elite Program is for players who have reached a high level of the basic skills for their age and are prepared to undertake a more rigorous program. Players who register in the Elite program are required to have played at the Rep. level. This program offers 30 minutes extra ice time each day in addition to the instructional program information outlined above.
LEARN TO PLAY (5-7 years old)
The Learn to Play Hockey program is an introduction to the basic skills and rules of the game in a fun environment. With the focus being on individual skill development and developing an understanding of the rules of the game, the Learn to Play program provides a unique experience for all young players.
Program highlights include:
The Elite Program is for players who have reached a high level of the basic skills for their age and are prepared to undertake a more rigorous program. Players who register in the Elite program are required to have played at the Rep. level. - One and a half hours of daily on ice instruction
- Basic instruction in:
- Shooting
- Passing
- Skating Technique
- Rules of the Game
- 1 hour of daily off-ice dry land in the form of a fun game to develop hand-eye coordination, balance and agility.
- High Instructor to Player Ratio 1:5
GOALTENDER’S PROGRAM
At Oilers Hockey School, goalies are given the extra attention to help them reach their goals. In addition to being a part of the Regular or Elite Program, each goaltender will receive specialized goalie instruction each day.
- Basic fundamentals such as skating, stance, angles, lateral movement and save techniques
- Daily Ice Sessions - Specific instruction concentrating on various save techniques in game simulated situations
- Goalie Plyometrics - Daily off-ice training instruction including save techniques, movement exercises, strength and plyometric training

- Daily off-ice core strength and plyometric physical training program

- Foot Speed & Agility

- Hand Eye Coordination & Concentration
Program highlights include:
- Lecture sessions including: motivation, nutrition and goal-setting seminars
- Customized hockey related DVD’s and other supplementary material
- Player/Instructor Conferences
- Electronically produced report based on skill results
