9:29: Shots on goal are 3-3 just past the midway point of the first period. 9:01: Oilers have a couple great chances to double their lead as Anton Lander and Jordan Eberle both take swipes at the puck from prime scoring areas but Niemi is equal to the task. 1:27: Shots are 10-9 Oilers as the period nears completion. It was 8-4 Edmonton at one point earlier in the frame. 0.0: After one period, shots on goal were 11-10 for San Jose.

14:09: Smyth heads to the box for holding, giving the Sharks the game's first power play.

13:32: Scrivens slid across to stop a shot from the slot by Marleau but Pavelski was there for the rebound to tie the game up. | EDM 1, SJ 1

10:03: Marleau tees up a wrist shot from the top of the right circle and beats Scrivens glove side to put San Jose ahead. | SJ 2, EDM 1

8:17: Brad Stuart gets sent to the bin, giving the Oilers their first man advantage of the game.
