FIRST PERIOD

Tonight's game is now underway.

17:07: The Sharks had a wide open net with a chance to open the scoring but Jordan Eberle hooked Joe Pavelski off the puck before he could shoot it. The result was a penalty to Eberle and the Sharks getting the game's first power play.

15:45: Ryan Jones had a shorthanded breakaway but was stopped by Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi on the deke attempt.
15:07: Oilers kill off the penalty. Shots are 5-2 Sharks.

12:28: Sam Gagner gets a tripping penalty, sending San Jose back on the power play. Shots are 11-2 Sharks.
10:26: Oilers kill off the penalty; Scrivens made three big saves during the PK.

9:09: Edmonton gets on the board first. Nick Schultz feeds Justin at the right point and his wrist shot beats Niemi high for the goal. | EDM 1, SJ 0
44.4: Matt Hendricks drops the gloves with Mike Brown on the Sharks. The fists fly quickly with the two combatants falling to the ice shortly after the fight began.

SECOND PERIOD

Second period has started.

18:00: Scrivens slides over to make a nice pad save and keep the Sharks off the board. 13:12: Oilers manage five shots in the period's opening seven minutes but Sharks continue their barrage and direct six Scrivens' way. Shots are 26-12 San Jose.

11:21: Scrivens took a shot from Bracken Kearns off his mask but regained his composure fast to snag a shot out of the air.
11:10: Off the faceoff, Scrivens comes up huge again with a great glove save off Pavelski.
9:47: After an icing, the Oilers call their 30-second timeout.

3:36: A penalty to Marc-Edouard Vlasic sends the Oilers to the power play for the first time on the night.

1:09: Scrivens continues his impressive run, stopping Marleau on a breakaway and then denying Marleau again on a quick shot from the slot. Sharks have 42 shots and the Oilers goaltender has stopped all 42 to this point.

1:06: A skirmish erupts, resulting in penalties to Marincin and Burns resulting in four-on-four play.

16:34: Oilers officially announce that Matt Hendricks has left the game with a head injury and will not return.

8:58: Anton Belov goes off for cross checking, giving the Sharks a power play.

7:56: Scrivens makes another handful of stops, including a pad save off a Tommy Wingels wrister from the slot.

4:00: Scrivens makes his 57th save of the game, setting a new Oilers record for saves by a goaltender in a single game.
2:09: Dan Boyle gets sent to the box, setting up an Edmonton power play.

1:20: Eberle scoops up a Hall rebound and lifts it over Niemi to make it a 3-0 lead. | EDM 3, SJ 0
