The Edmonton Oilers play their last game before the Christmas break tonight against the Winnipeg Jets.

Line Combinations (and defence pairings) for the Oilers:

Defence pairings:

Out: Arcobello (ribs), Jones (head), Larsen (illness)

The game has started.

19:03: Justin Schultz has a great chance from the high slot but his wrist shot is knocked down by Jets starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec.

15:15: Evander Kane gets sent off for tripping, giving Edmonton an early power play.

13:10: Just as the penalty expired, David Perron had a great chance to score but couldn't get a handle on the puck while stationed at the top of the crease. The puck was then fired up ice where Kane was sprung out of the penalty box. Kane skated in alone on Bryzgalov and his deke was denied by Bryzgalov.

12:36: Tobias Enstrom received two minutes for hooking, setting up another Edmonton man advantage.

11:20: This time, the Oilers convert. Jordan Eberle redirected a feed from Hemsky to put Edmonton on the board. | EDM 1, WPG 0
8:40: Mark Stuart's shot from the left circle beat Bryzgalov through the five hole, tying the game up. | EDM 1, WPG 1
3:53: A beautiful three-way passing play that culminated in Sam Gagner scoring made it a 2-1 game for Edmonton. Justin Schultz pinched in and fired the puck around the net to Eberle. Eberle then threw the puck in front where Gagner redirected it in for the goal. | EDM 2, WPG 1
2:12: After icing the puck, Oilers call a 30-second timeout.

0.0: Period ends with Oilers holding a 14-7 edge in shots.

Period two is now underway.

14:30: Jets receive two minutes for having too many men on the ice on the tail end of a really good shift for the Oilers fourth line.

13:32: The power play ends when Edmonton gets a bench minor for too many men also, setting up 1:02 of four-on-four action followed by an abbreviated Winnipeg man advantage.

12:01: With 29 seconds left in the bench minor, Smyth clears the puck into his own penalty box from his own zone, resulting in a delay-of-game penalty and Winnipeg two-man advantage.

10:52: Winnipeg ties the game with 51 seconds to go in the Smyth minor. Andrew Ladd redirects a shot from the high slot by Blake Wheeler. | EDM 2, WPG 2
10:29: Shots on goal near the midway point of the second period were 6-0 for Winnipeg.

9:06: Justin Schultz joins the rush and makes a nice backhand pass to Perron in front of the net. Pavelec is sharp, making the save on Perron and allowing no rebound.

7:16: Andrew Ference is clipped with a high stick by Eric O'Dell, putting the Oilers back on the power play.

3:20: David Perron backhanded a Taylor Hall feed past Pavelec to put Edmonton back in the lead. Hall gathered the puck behind the net and dished it to Perron for the marker. | EDM 3, WPG 2
0.0: After two periods, shots on goal were 21-17 for the Oilers.

Third period is now underway.
17:43: Jesse Joensuu gets two minutes for tripping, giving Winnipeg a power play chance to tie the game up.

16:20: Wheeler wires a shot off the post behind Bryzgalov.

15:32: Jeff Petry completes a nice three-way passing play between Nail Yakupov, Petry and Perron. Yakupov made a nice move to get the puck over to Petry pinching down the right side and the defenceman put the puck into the open cage. | EDM 4, WPG 2
13:24: Stuart gets two minutes in the box.

11:26: With two seconds left in the power play, Taylor Hall one-times a feed from Nugent-Hopkins to extend the Oilers lead to 5-2. | EDM 5, WPG 2
7:04: Mark Stuart lays out Yakupov and immediately after, Luke Gazdic drops his gloves and starts pummelling the Jets defender. Gazdic received two extra minutes for high sticking, sending Winnipeg on the power play.

3:44: Yakupov converts a feed from Hall on a two-on-one to make it a 6-2 game. | EDM 6, WPG 2
3:44: Before the puck was even dropped, the Jets go after Yakupov as a battle royale breaks out on the ice. The result of everything was an Oilers power play. Bogosian received five for spearing among a plethora of Jets penalties.
