FIRST PERIOD

20:00:
Tonight's game is now underway.

17:23: The Oilers went on the attack early and it paid off with the game's first goal. Jordan Eberle was perched at the left side of the net and pounced on a rebound after Corey Potter blasted a shot from the right point. Eberle put the puck into the open cage for the goal. | EDM 1, CBJ 0
15:07: Potter went tumbling into the corner in the Oilers zone after blocking a shot with the side of his face. He went off for repairs.

11:00: As the opening period approached the midway point, the Oilers had a 7-1 lead in shots.

8:29: Corey Potter returned to the ice for his first shift after taking a puck in the face.
8:13: Nick Foligno ran some interference in the Jackets zone, giving the Oilers the game's first man advantage.

7:59: The power play didn't take long to make an impact. David Perron picked up the puck during a mad scramble in front of Bobrovsky and scored to double the Edmonton lead. | EDM 2, CBJ 0
7:39: Luke Gazdic takes a tripping penalty, giving Columbus their first power play of the night.

5:17: David Savard received two minutes for slashing, sending Edmonton back on the power play.

3:55: Once again, the Oilers strike on the power play. Ryan Smyth puts the puck in from his office in front of the net after a great saucer pass from Sam Gagner, making it a three-goal game. | EDM 3, CBJ 0
0.0: First period ends, with Oilers outshooting Columbus 15-3.

SECOND PERIOD

20:00:
Second period is now underway.

17:24: Luke Gazdic dropped the gloves with Jared Boll early in the period. It was a marathon bout with neither combatant getting a decisive edge but there were plenty of punches thrown.
15:27: Boone Jenner and Andrew Ference both get sent to the box. Jenner for cross-checking and Ference for embellishment.

14:09: Yakupov feeds Hemsky, who gets around the Jackets defence for a great scoring chance but he is turned away by Bobrovsky.

11:30: Perron threads the needle with a wrist shot just under the crossbar immediately following a faceoff to extend the Oilers lead. | EDM 4, CBJ 0
11:30: Bobrovsky is replaced in goal by Curtis McElhinney

9:56: Jack Johnson receives two minutes for holding to send Edmonton's potent power play back on the attack.
9:24: Yakupov jumps on a rebound after a turnover at the Blue Jackets blueline to David Perron results in a three-on-one. Perron's shot is stopped by McElhinney but Yakupov's shot finds its way into the back of the net. The net was dislodged on the play but after review it was ruled a good goal. | EDM 5, CBJ 0
5:48: Shots on goal with just over five minutes to play in the middle frame were 22-8 for Edmonton.

4:36: Perron fed Justin Schultz on a rush up ice and Schultz made no mistake, wristing it past McElhinney to extend the Oilers lead to six goals. | EDM 6, CBJ 0
0.0: Shots on goal after 40 minutes were 24-10 for Edmonton.

THIRD PERIOD

20:00:
Third period is now underway.

17:39: Behind the Columbus net, Jeff Petry and Nikita Nikitin collide. Both defencemen appear shaken up, though Petry did return for his next shift. Nikitin received two minutes for tripping on the play.

14:00: Taylor Hall heads to the bench after taking what appeared to be a high stick to the mouth. He is attended to by the Oilers trainer T.D. Forss.

11:33: Justin Schultz's blast from the right point is redirected and nearly finds its way into the back of the net but instead narrowly misses the mark.

10:10: Gagner very nearly makes it 7-0 but his backhand attempt is denied by McElhinney, who manages to snag it before it crosses the goal line.

3:17: Hall breaks in all alone, fanning on his shot attempt but the puck still found a way under McElhinney to increase the Edmonton lead to 7-0. | EDM 7, CBJ 0
