PRE-GAME NOTES

Devan Dubnyk will get the start in net tonight for the Edmonton Oilers as they take on the New York Islanders tonight.

Jesse Joensuu is no longer on the road trip and was sent back to Edmonton for evaluation on an injury.

FIRST PERIOD

15:45: Breakaway chance for Taylor Hall and he just mishandles the puck right in front. 0-0 is the score.

10:01: Travis Hamonic frees the puck off the stick of Anton Belov behind the Oilers net and Josh Bailey one-times it in past Dubnyk. | EDM 0, NYI 1

05:30: Oilers being out-shot 11-3.

04:08: B-E-A-Utiful set up by Mark Arcobello across ice to Justin Schultz who broke in on the net and passed backdoor to Taylor Hall who sniped it for the score. | EDM 1, NYI 1

04:00: Eight seconds later Arcobello throws it on net from deep on the right-wing and Evgeni Nabokov's rebound comes right out in front to a streaking Taylor Hall who finishes it for his second goal of the night. | EDM 2, NYI 1

00:00: Big finish to the first period as the Oilers were outshot 16-7 but end the period with the lead. | EDM 2, NYI 1

 
SECOND PERIOD

20:00: The second period is underway!

16:09: Luke Gazdic to the sin bin for tripping.

15:06: Tic-tac-toe go the Islanders and Okposo scores to tie the game on the power play. | EDM 2, NYI 2



12:17: Nail Yakupov with a heavy one-timer but no dice as the game remains tied.

10:34: Oilers battling! Ales Hemsky with a backhand and there were multiple chances there by the visitors from Edmonton. They'll get a chance at a power play now.

09:33: Arcobello with a great shot but a glove save by Evgeni Nabokov.

03:59: Islanders killed off three-straight quick penalties to keep the score tied at two.

THIRD PERIOD

20:00: The third period is now underway.

14:48: Big penalty kill coming up as Jeff Petry will serve a delay of game penalty with the Oilers down 3-2.

13:13: Marr Martin with a power play chance and Dubnyk makes the save.

8:50: Coach Eakins shakes some of the lines up, putting Taylor Hall out there at centre with Ales Hemsky and Ryan Jones. That was followed up by Mark Arcobello with Jordan Eberle and Nail Yakupov. Hall then came back out on the very next shift with David Perron and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

5:02: Shots on goal are 38-25 for the Islanders with five minutes to play.

4:10: The puck bounces off the end boards to Ryan Smyth at the left side of the net but he can't get a handle on the bouncing puck to sneak it past Nabokov.

1:48: Justin Schultz heads to the box, forcing the Oilers to play 5-on-5 (with a pulled goaltender) for most of the remainder of the game.

0:00: Shots on goal were 40-29 for the Islanders as the game comes to an end.
