Under the Scope: Oilers at Ducks


Radek Dvorak scored both of Anaheim's goal to lift the Ducks to a 2-1 victory over the Oilers. Although Nick Schultz was able to score the equalizer early in the third, the Ducks got one back a few minutes later as Dvorak beat Devan Dubnyk. The Oilers were out shot 38-28 and are now four points out of the eight and final playoff spot.

Ben Lovejoy's shot was stopped by Devan Dubnyk but the rebound was picked up in front by Radek Dvorak, who backhanded the puck into the open net to put the Ducks up, 1-0.

The Oilers started the second period on the penalty kill when Teemu Selanne made a backhand pass to Corey Perry, who tried to go top shelf but Dubnyk flashed the leather and made a glove save.

Nick Schultz scored the Oilers lone goal in the third as he was able to beat Jonas Hiller from a bad angle. The goal is Schultz's first in 58 games and his sixth career goal against the Ducks, the most he has scored against any NHL team.


In his first game back after being a healthy scratch for the last seven, Mark Fistric had five blocks, delivered three hits with one shot on net and 14:44 of ice time.


The Oilers have scored two goals in their last three games after scoring 12 goals against Calgary during their home-and-home series.

The Oilers will be heading home to begin preparations for their game against Phoenix on Wednesday night. Saturday will be the final Battle of Alberta game as Calgary makes a visit to Rexall Place and northwest division rivals, the Minnesota Wild will be in town Tuesday night to take on the Oilers.
