Oilers acquire forward Kale Kessy

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have acquired forward Kale Kessy from the Phoenix Coyotes, in exchange for Tobias Rieder.

Kessy, 20, was selected in the 4th round, 111th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2011 NHL Draft.

The 6’3”, 205 pound winger currently plays for the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League. In 60 games this season he has registered 43 points (21G, 22A) and 106 penalty minutes. Kessy has spent five seasons in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers, Vancouver Giants and Kamloops Blazers, accumulating 112 points (46G, 66A) and 509 penalty minutes in 253 games.

In the 2012-13 WHL Playoffs, Kessy has posted six points (4G, 2A) and six penalty minutes in four games.
