PRE-GAME NOTES

Nikolai Khabibulin gets the nod tonight as the Edmonton Oilers take on the St. Louis Blues. It's Khabibulin's first start since he was injured on Feb. 25 against Chicago. The Oilers are only three points out of a playoff spot and with a win tonight, they could move up in the Western Conference from 13th spot to a tie for 10th. This is the second of three meetings against each other, with the Blues taking the first game in a 4-2 win on Mar. 1.


Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is still out with an illness while Eric Belanger returns to the lineup after missing the last five games with a groin injury.

10:18: The Oilers are on the powerplay with David Perron heading to the box for holding.

8:04: Jordan Eberle with the backhander but was stopped by Jaroslav Halak.

5:00: With less than five minutes left in the period, the Blues are outshooting the Oilers, 6-3.

0:09: Shawn Horcoff with a chance on the left side but Halak made the save.

0:00: Shots after one period are 6-4 with the Blues leading 1-0.

FIRST PERIOD NOTES: Jaroslav Halak assist on Stewart's goal is his sixth point of his career. After 20 minutes, the Oilers have blocked eight shots with 13 hits.

SECOND PERIOD

20:00: Puck drop. Second period is now underway.

19:26: Sam Gagner with an shot early in the second but flies above Halak.

12:08: Vladimir Tarasenko in front but stopped by Khabibulin.

11:39: Perron is back in the box for interference. The Oilers go on the powerplay.

10:28: The Oilers get a bench minor for too many men on the ice. Ales Hemsky heads to the box to serve the penalty. It'll be four-on-four hockey for 49 seconds before the Blues go on their powerplay.

7:34: Perron draws his third penalty of the game as he gets two minutes for diving and Ryan Whitney will also head to the box for hooking. It'll be four-on-four hockey for the next two minutes.

6:12: Magnus Paajarvi throws the puck on net but was stopped by Halak.

4:52: The Oilers are back on the penalty kill as Horcoff gets two minutes for hooking.

3:50: Khabibulin with a huge save on David Backes.

11:41: Hemsky with a shot on net but was stopped. Near the halfway mark, the Blues are outshooting the Oilers 21-17.

8:51: T.J. Oshie with a pass from Andy McDonald puts it pass Khabibulin and the Blues are now leading 3-0. | STL 3, EDM 0

4:39: Ryan Smyth with a wrister from the left side and Halak makes the save.

1:20: Steen in front for a redirect but Khabibulin makes the save.

0:00: The Oilers lose 3-0 and were outshot 25-19.
