FIRST PERIOD
20:00: Tonight's game is now underway.
11:45: Taylor Hall fans on a one-timer from the right circle.
9:52: Shots on goal just past the period's midway point are 5-3 for Colorado. None of Colorado's shots have come from prime scoring areas.
8:40: Shawn Horcoff took a pass from Ales Hemsky then skated up the middle on a one-on-one with Gabriel Landeskog the lone man back for the Avalanche but Landeskog fell down, giving Horcoff a clear-cut breakway. He made no mistake, firing it five-hole past Varlamov. | EDM 1, COL 0
| With Horcoff in the lineup 5-2-1. Without him 4-9-4. I can't believe even those who are critical of the captain think it's a coincidence. @GenePrincipe |

3:23: Shawn Horcoff gets two minutes for hooking, giving Colorado the game's first power play.
0:00: Shots on goal after one period were 13 to 9 for the Avalanche.
SECOND PERIOD
20:00: Second period is now underway.
14:12: Dubnyk makes a nice save on Aaron Palushaj who skates into the Oilers zone with the puck then cuts to the net before firing a quick wrist shot from in close.
13:03: Mike Brown drew a penalty seven minutes into the middle frame to put Edmonton on the power play for the first time on the night. Ryan O'Byrne held him up in the Avs zone.
| Mike Brown draws a penalty to send the Oilers to the PP. In this small sample size, he's been extremely effective for Edmonton so far. @dantencer | ![]() |
7:44: Magnus Paajarvi drives to the net and fires a shot on goal. He then waits until the puck drops low enough before batting it out of the air and in to give Edmonton a three-goal lead. | EDM 3, COL 0

5:34: Ryan O'Byrne takes a cross-checking penalty, giving Edmonton its second man advantage of the night.
1:16: Ryan Whitney gets called for tripping.
0:00: Shots on goal after two periods were 26 to 21 for the Avs.
THIRD PERIOD
20:00: The third period is now underway.
16:13: The Avalanche looked to have tied the game near the four-minute mark on a shot from the left point by Jan Hejda that made its way past a screened Devan Dubnyk but the referees waived it off immediately, citing a player in the crease. Landeskog was stationed right at the top of the blue paint.
15:05: P.A. Parenteau heads to the box after the Avs were caught with too many men on the ice.
13:28: Taylor Hall does some great work along the boards and feeds the puck to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in the slot. RNH makes no mistake, rifling it past Varlamov for the goal. | EDM 4, COL 0
| RNH with points in 2 straight games. He had points in 4 straight games earlier this season. Games 2,3,4 and 5. @GenePrincipe |

10:50: Shots on goal are 33 to 28 for Colorado.
1:17: Things get a little chippy at the end of the game as Ryan Wilson and Horcoff exchange words. The result is a roughing penalty to Wilson putting the Avs down a man for the rest of the game.
