Minute-by-minute updates from Edmonton's road contest in Chicago
The Edmonton Oilers meet Chicago for the second time this season and second time on this nine-game road trip. We'll be updating the action from the game as it happens. We'll also be adding photos, videos from big plays and more throughout the game.
Shawn Horcoff, Teemu Hartikainen and Ales Hemsky are all healthy and return to the lineup. Coach Krueger hinted at some changes up front and on defence.

17:55: Teemu Hartikainen muscles his way to the net for a couple of shots on goal in close in what was the best early scoring chance of the game for either side.
17:36: On the very next shift, Mike Brown scores on a wrist shot from the top of the left circle to give the Oilers an early 1-0 lead. | EDM 1, CHI 0
17:00: Sam Gagner has a great chance in the slot but just narrowly misses. The puck cycles back to the high slot where Magnus Paajarvi feeds a pass over to Gagner at the left side of the net. This time, Gagner makes no mistake, rifling it past Blackhawks starting goaltender Ray Emery. | EDM 2, CHI 0
11:07: Shots on goal nearly nine minutes into the game were 7-2 for Edmonton.
10:41: Oilers extend their lead to 3-0. Ryan Whitney pinches down low and is spotted by Taylor Hall with a seeing-eye pass across the ice. Whitney makes no mistake, firing a wrist shot behind Emery. | EDM 3, CHI 0
10:41: Corey Crawford replaces Ray Emery in goal for the Blackhawks.
7:58: Jamal Mayers drops the gloves and goes after Mike Brown but the Oilers forward doesn't comply. The result is a Mayers penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and Oilers power play.
7:38: The Oilers made it 4-0 20 seconds into the power play. Whitney spotted Gagner cruising up the middle. Gagner slipped in behind the Blackhawks defence and decked out Crawford for the goal. | EDM 4, CHI 0
0:00: Shots on goal after one period were 12 to 5 for Edmonton.
The goal by Brown was his first as an Oiler and first since February 29, 2012 -- a 23-game scoreless drought. ... Oilers were only 26% in the faceoff circle in the period (6-for-23). ... Every Blackhawks skater had a minus-one rating with the exceptions being Bryan Bickell, Andrew Shaw and Michael Frolik.

14:24: Devan Dubnyk skates out to play the puck but is beaten to it by Patrick Kane. Kane then drives to the net and puts it past the lone defender, Ryan Whitney. | EDM 4, CHI 1
12:09: Jonathan Toews beats Jeff Petry wide and skates in behind the net before spotting Hossa in the slot. Hossa puts the puck in to narrow the gap to two. | EDM 4, CHI 2
11:29: Nick Leddy takes a holding penalty, giving Edmonton their second man advantage of the game.
10:15: On the penalty kill, Hossa plowed into Dubnyk on a scoring opportunity for the Blackhawks. Dubnyk made a nice save, kicking out his left pad but was shaken up on the play. He needed to be tended to by the Oilers training staff and was replaced in goal by Yann Danis.

5:53: Chicago takes the lead in shots for the first time in the game, 19 to 18 over the Oilers.
5:38: Ales Hemsky breaks in all alone on Crawford and tries the deke but just misses the mark. Duncan Keith slashes Hemsky on the play and gets two minutes for his efforts.
4:55: The Blackhawks skate down the ice on a two-on-one shorthanded. Danis makes the first save on Hossa and the rebound by Brookbank but the puck then goes in off Brookbank's chest and finds its way into the back of the net. | EDM 5, CHI 3
4:04: The Oilers get that goal back in less than a minute. Nugent-Hopkins fired a shot from the left circle that was redirected into the back of the net by Hall. | EDM 6, CHI 3
2:58: Brent Seabrook takes a feed from Kane and fires it past Danis to draw the Blackhawks back within a pair once again. | EDM 6, CHI 4

14:14: Smid hammered Andrew Shaw into the boards away from the play and received an interference penalty as a result, giving Chicago their first power play of the game.
12:54: Dave Bolland spotted Kane at the right circle where he made no mistake, wristing it past Danis to draw the Blackhawks to within a goal. | EDM 6, CHI 5
10:28: Chicago buzzes around the Oilers net for a good minute-long shift. Danis has to make a couple of big stops, including one on Kane from a prime scoring area.
7:45: Off the rush, Danis made a nice save off Brookbank from point-blank range and on the same play, Nick Schultz was penalized for playing with a broken stick to give Chicago the man advantage with a chance to tie the game.
4:52: Danis makes a nice glove save off Shaw from in close.
4:03: Hossa gets two minutes for interference.
