PRE-GAME NOTES
The Edmonton Oilers take on Columbus for the second time this season and second time at the Nationwide Arena. We'll be updating the action from the game as it happens. We'll also be adding photos, videos from big plays and more throughout the game.
Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle will both play but the duo will play on different lines. Mike Brown makes his Oilers debut. Theo Peckham (illness) is a late scratch, meaning Corey Potter draws back into the lineup.
Line Combinations (and defence pairings) for the Oilers:
Paajarvi - Gagner - Eberle
Hall - Nugent-Hopkins - Hemsky
Yakupov - Belanger - Jones
Eager - Smyth - Brown
N.Schultz - J.Schultz
Smid - Petry
Potter - Whitney
Dubnyk
FIRST PERIOD
20:00: Tonight's game is now underway.
17:00: On his first shift as an Oiler, Mike Brown intercepted the puck in the high slot and fired it on Blue Jackets starting goaltender Steve Mason.
15:37: Jeff Petry wristed a shot from the right point that eluded Mason, who was screened in front by Ryan Jones. | EDM 1, CBJ 0
12:06: Columbus came right back and scored to put the Jackets back on even terms. Jared Boll threaded a pass to Derek MacKenzie at the top of the crease and he redirected it past Dubnyk for the goal. | EDM 1, CBJ 1
8:03: Ryan Whitney was sent off for tripping, giving Columbus the game's first power play for either side.
6:15: The initial shot from Ryan Johansen rang off the post behind Dubnyk and when the Oilers netminder tried to smother the puck, Vinny Prospal was right there to corral the rebound and put it behind the sprawled-out goaltender. | CBJ 2, EDM 1
5:36: Jeff Petry and Matt Calvert dropped the gloves for an abbreviated bout. Calvert managed to wrestle Petry to the ice but neither side could really claim the edge in that fight. Calvert received a game misconduct for not having a tie down. His jersey came off in the fight.
| Petry definitely one of the unlikeliest candidates for a Gordie Howe hat trick...but he's got the goal and the fight. Have to admire the try @DanTencer |

4:03: Columbus went right back onto the power play with 4:03 to go in the opening frame. Nail Yakupov received two minutes for holding Johansen.
1:17: After killing off the penalty, Ryan Whitney wristed a shot from the right circle that beat Mason through the five-hole to put the Oilers back on even terms. | EDM 2, CBJ 2
0:00: Shots on goal after one period were 14 to 7 in favour of Columbus.
FIRST PERIOD NOTES
Jeff Petry now has five points in his last five games. He also has five points on the season.
SECOND PERIOD
19:29: The Oilers get off to a fast start in the middle frame. Sam Gagner slips the puck past a Blue Jackets defender and it finds its way onto the stick of Magnus Paajarvi who makes no mistake, wristing it past Mason to put Edmonton back in the lead. | EDM 3, CBJ 2
19:29: Sergei Bobrovsky replaced Mason in goal for Columbus.
9:16: Derick Brassard had the puck behind the net and fed it in front to Jack Johnson who one-timed it past Dubnyk and made it a 3-3 game. | EDM 3, CBJ 3
| I think Jack Johnson came in off the bench, which is why nobody saw him heading into the slot. |

7:15: Ben Eager gets sent to the box after finishing his check on an icing play.
3:26: With just over three minutes to go in the period, Columbus had a 23 to 12 edge in shots.
0:00: At the buzzer, shots are 24-14 for the Jackets.
THIRD PERIOD
20:00: The third period is underway.
16:27: Dalton Prout takes a high-sticking penalty to put the Oilers on the power play for the first time on the evening.
15:31: Magnus Paajarvi skates slowly to the bench after a collision deep in the Columbus end.
12:42: Eric Belanger is upended skating out of his own zone by Brassard and the Oilers get another man advantage with a chance to take the lead.
12:32: That power play is shortlived as Yakupov gets sent off for tripping 10 seconds later.
| Paajarvi seems to be fine, no attention from the trainer on the bench required. |

2:59: As the third period winds down, Oilers start to take over momentum in the game. Over the past eight minutes, Edmonton has outshot Columbus 9-8.
0:57: Dubnyk makes a big save on a quick wrist shot from Umberger.
OVERTIME
4:35: Nick Foligno gets two minutes for closing his hand on the puck, giving Edmonton a chance to end the game on a four-on-three power play.
4:00: Bobrovsky slides across and makes a brilliant pad save on Eberle as he wrists it from the left circle.
2:35: Columbus kills off an Oilers power play that looked dangerous and had plenty of great chances to score.
0:43: Jack Johnson rings a blast off the post behind Dubnyk and out.
