Ice Arrives at Rexall!
Six and a half tons (almost 6 metric tonnes) of ice-encased Edmonton Oilers jerseys have arrived at Rexall Place, ready to be placed around the building for tonight’s Home Opener against the San Jose Sharks.
Each jersey weighs 625 pounds (284 kilograms) and features a player from the current team’s roster.
After the puck drops, the blocks of ice will be melted, the jerseys will be retrieved and then they will be signed by the respective players. The ice jerseys from Opening Night will then be put up for grabs to fans all over Oil Country in the team’s creative social media contest, “Oil in the Family.”
People will be asked to photoshop the player’s picture into a family photo and then enter the image to win that player’s autographed jersey.
The frozen jerseys are the latest offering from the Edmonton Oilers during Home Opener Week festivities.
Stay tuned for contest details coming soon to the Oilers social media platforms.
Edmonton Oilers hockey is presented in part by the Rexall Family of Pharmacies, Molson Canadian, TELUS and Ford.
