Barons statement on course of treatment for defenceman Brandon Davidson
Oklahoma City Barons defenceman Brandon Davidson began chemotherapy treatment today.
Davidson was diagnosed with testicular cancer on October 31 and began treatment on November 2 that removed the cancerous tumor. Post-operative testing revealed the disease has not progressed. The chemotherapy treatment is an effort to limit the chance of recurrence of the disease.
“Basically it’s just one round,” said Davidson. “It’s a reassurance that it won’t come back, that we can put this thing to rest and get back to hockey. It wasn’t an easy decision to make. Basically this was the best opportunity for me to put this thing to bed and move on.”
Davidson’s treatment begins Monday at The Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center on the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center campus in downtown Oklahoma City.
