Oilers assign Cornet & Rajala to Stockton; loan Zahn to Stockon
Oklahoma City – The Edmonton Oilers re-assigned forwards Philippe Cornet and Toni Rajala to the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL. In a separate transaction, defenseman Teigan Zahn was loaned by the Barons to Stockton, General Manager Bill Scott announced today.
Cornet, a third-year pro from Val-Senneville, Quebec has played the last two seasons with the Barons. In 127 games over two seasons, the Oilers 5th round draft choice (133rd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft has scored 60 points (31-29-60).
Rajala is entering his first professional season in North America. The Oilers 4th round selection (101st overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft has played the last two seasons in Finland with Ilves Tampere, scoring 51 points (25-26-51) in 95 games.
Zahn was signed by the Barons to an AHL contract this summer. He played last season with the University of Calgary, scoring 15 points (3-12-15) in 27 games. Prior to his season with the Dinos, he played five seasons with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League. In 287 games over five seasons, he scored 64 points (12-52-64) while serving 549 penalty minutes.
