THE WEEK THAT WAS

The Oilers finished off a four-game homestand with some strong hockey. The Oilers would take five of a possibe six points from the three games during the fantasy week, the best performance in some time. The week started with a 3-0 shutout over Columbus in the battle of the league's two bottom teams. 

Edmonton would then follow up that victory with a great 60-minute effort against their Alberta rivals from Calgary. With the Flames desperate for points in their chase for a final playoff spot, the Oilers played the role of 'spoilers' perfectly in a 3-1 win. The Oilers then finished off the homestand by taking a point in a 3-2 shootout loss to a Coyotes team also playing desperate playoff hockey.

The Oilers come out of the week with a record of 28-36-8 for 64 points on the season.



THE WEEK AHEAD

The Oilers will now follow up the homestand with a four-game road trip. They will start with a stop in Nashville to play a very good Predators team tonight.

Edmonton will follow that up with back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday against Tampa Bay and Florida . The trip will then conclude with an afternoon game versus the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.

TUESDAY, MARCH 20th.

The newly introduced salaries for all our highlighted players will take place following Tuesday's game versus Nashville. At the end of Tuesday's game, all remaining players salaries will be reset to their real cap hit values as normal.  

Here are this week’s salary amendments:


JORDAN EBERLE ($3M > $5M)

Jordan Eberle had another fantastic week, as his line led the way offensively for the Oilers. Jordan would pick up five points(2G,3A) in the three games, with a couple being of the highlight-reel variety.  

Eberle was able to hit the 70-plateau for the first time in his young NHL career this past week. Having hit this mark in 68 games, Jordan continues to produce at over a point-per-game pace and is the Oilers biggest weapon. 

  
SAM GAGNER ($2M > $1M)

Gagner has cooled off lately as he continues to try and exceed career highs in points that he set as a rookie. Sam went pointless through the three games this week despite averaging around 18 minutes per game.

Gagner has actually now gone pointless in six games overall and has been stuck on 42 points. Most would assume that some points are soon to come for Gagner and so this might be a good buy this week.
  
 
RYAN NUGENT-HOPKINS ($5M - $5M)

Nugent-Hopkins has worked off the rust from his injury and is back to putting up points game-in and game-out. He along with linemate Jordan Eberle carried the load for the Oilers this week. RNH put up four points(3G,1A) in the three games and was a threat each time he touched the ice.  

Nugent-Hopkins is closing in on a number of rookie benchmarks, as his 45 points has him battling for the lead in the rookie scoring race, and he is just two goals away from a 20-goal campaign.
