Oilers Fantasy Hockey Forecast - 02\/28\/2012
THE WEEK THAT WAS

It was a really encouraging fantasy week for the Edmonton Oilers. With four games and the trade deadline during this period, the Oilers were able to win three of four and pull off a trade that saw Tom Gilbert leave the fantasy roster. The week started with an emotional and well deserved win over the rival Calgary Flames. Having lost nine straight in the Battle of Alberta, the Oilers were finally able to break the streak with a dominant 6-1 win.

After another impressive win over the league's top scoring team in Philadelphia on Thursday night, Edmonton suffered its only setback of the week in a 3-1 loss to Phoenix on Saturday. The Oilers turned things around right away however with a 5-3 win over the new look Jets in Winnipeg.

The Oilers come out of the week with a record of 25-31-6 for 56 points on the season.

THE WEEK AHEAD

The Oilers will start the week at home with games against St. Louis on Wednesday night and Dallas on Friday night. The Oilers will look to keep the momentum going against these two Western Conference rivals

Edmonton will then finish off the fantasy week on the road when they travel to Anaheim to play the Ducks. The Oilers will be looking for some payback for the 5-0 beating the Ducks gave the Oilers in Edmonton earlier in the season.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 29.

The newly introduced salaries for all our highlighted players will take place following Wednesday's game versus St. Louis. At the end of Wednesday's game, all remaining players salaries will be reset to their real cap hit values as normal.

Here are this week’s salary amendments:

JORDAN EBERLE ($3M > $5M)

Eberle continued his breakout season with another solid fantasy week. Jordan is having a season to remember and is really starting to stand out as the Oilers most consistent offensive threat.

Eberle put six points (3G, 3A) in the four games this week and brings his season total to 61 points in 58 games. Eberle has a chance to be the first Oiler to hit the 80 mark since Doug Weight did it a decade ago.

After taking one week back at his base salary, Eberle is hot again this week. We all know that even at the top dollar amount, Eberle is worth every penney.

CAM BARKER  ($2M > $1M)

Cam Barker has had a season to forget in Edmonton. With hopes that he would regain the form that made him a top-3 overall draft, Barker has spent more time on the Injury reserve than on the ice.

Since returning to the lineup, Barker has continued to struggle with only two points in 20 games this season. After a string of minus games, Barker was a healthy scratch in the first three games of this week.

Despite drawing back into the lineup against Winnipeg last night, Barker doesn't really warrant much more than the base purchase price.

TAYLOR HALL ($4M > $5M)

The Oilers other big-gun was also at his best this week. Despite a few games missed to injuries, Hall has been excellent this season.

Hall also posted six points (3G, 3A) in the four games during the fantasy week. Now up to 48 points in 52 games this season, Hall is also having a breakout year. Hall like Eberle seems to be playing his best hockey right now and should be productive the rest of the season.

Hall is playing right with Eberle and thus they will both sit at the top price tag this week.
