Oilers trade D Tom Gilbert to the Minnesota Wild for D Nick Schultz

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Nick Schultz from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for defenceman Tom Gilbert.
Schultz, 29, has spent all 10 National Hockey League seasons with the Wild and has accumulated 128 points (26G, 102A) and 322 penalty minutes in 743 games.
The 6’1”, 200-pound rearguard has a goal and two assists with 30 penalty minutes in 62 games this season.
Schultz, who hails from Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, played three seasons with the Western Hockey League’s Prince Albert Raiders. In 189 games he had 114 points (33G, 81A) and 195 penalty minutes.
Internationally Schultz represented Team Canada at the 2004 and 2007 World Hockey Championships, where he helped Canada win gold at both events. He was also a member of the silver medal winning team at the 2002 World Junior Hockey Championship.
Schultz was selected by Minnesota in the 2nd round, 33rd overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
