The notion attributed to Socrates that says “those who dare to teach, must never cease to learn” is often adopted by those taking on coaching roles in the hockey world. Even for the pros, being a hockey coach often means taking a step back from teaching and acquiring valuable knowledge from other experienced peers. The Edmonton Oilers are proud to announce the return of the Oilers Coaches Clinic presented by Cenovus Energy on Monday, February 13. Minor hockey coaches from across Oil Country are invited to sign-up for this free, one-day clinic featuring interactive sessions and the opportunity to gain valuable development experience from members of the Edmonton Oilers Coaching Staff and Hockey Canada. Guest speakers at this year’s event include Oilers Head Coach Tom Renney, Alumni and four-time Stanley Cup champion Grant Fuhr, Oilers President of Hockey Operations Kevin Lowe, Oilers Skating and Skills Coach Steve Serdachny, Goaltending Coach Frederic Chabot, Kevin Bathurst (Hockey Canada) and Dave Brown (Hockey Alberta).
“The Edmonton Oilers organization has an excellent coaching staff and extensive resources that we are proud to share with minor hockey coaches,” said Oilers President and COO, Patrick LaForge. “In Oil Country, we all love hockey and we are happy to help the children enjoy the game while they improve and have fun.” The Coaches Clinic will be held from 10am – 4pm at the Sutton Place Hotel Ballroom and will be open to the first 300 registered minor hockey coaches that apply online at edmontonoilers.com. All attendees will be eligible to win prizes throughout the event and will also receive an Oilers notebook.
