Oilers open 2011 Training Camp

The Edmonton Oilers will kick off their 2011 Training Camp on Friday, September 16.
The Oilers 32nd NHL training camp opens Friday with players undergoing medicals and fitness testing at Rexall Place starting at 8 a.m.
The next day, all players will hit the ice at Rexall Place for the first time, where they will partake in drills and scrimmages led by the Oilers coaching staff of Tom Renney, Ralph Krueger, Kelly Buchberger and Steve Smith.
The Joey Moss Cup intrasquad match, which is the first chance for the public to see players vying for roster spots, will take place on Sunday, September 18 at Rexall Place. Proceeds will benefit the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation and the U of A Golden Bears Hockey Program. Tickets are only $10 in advance or $12 at the door for general admission seating. Game time is 2 p.m.
The Oilers open their 2011 NHL pre-season with an eight-game schedule: four games at Rexall Place and four on the road. Their first game is a split squad match on Tuesday, September 20. Edmonton will entertain the Minnesota Wild at Rexall Place at 7 p.m. and they will also send a team to Saskatoon to visit the Chicago Blackhawks at the Credit Union Centre. Game time is 7 p.m. CST.
The Oilers open the 2011-12 regular season on Sunday, October 9 when they play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Game time is 7 p.m.
