Oilers agree to terms with Smid
25-year-old blueliner signs two-year deal with Edmonton

Smid, 25, has spent the past five seasons with Edmonton after being acquired from Anaheim in 2006. Last year the 6’3”, 225-pound defenceman appeared in 78 games collecting 10 assists and 85 penalty minutes.
Smid, who is from Frydlant, Czech Republic, has 44 points (4G, 40A) and 276 penalty minutes in 331 career NHL games. He was originally drafted in the 1st round, 9th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by Anaheim.
