Fueled by coffee, hot chocolate, and muffins before doors opened and complimentary hot dogs, popcorn, and other concession treats once inside, attendees dispersed to 20 designated photo stations throughout the main and upper Rexall Place concourses.
From 11am to 12:30pm, the entire contingent of Oilers players greeted fans and offered warm smiles during the photo sessions. Some season ticket holders came from as far away as Fort McMurray and Lloydminster and managed to hit 15 stations in the allotted time.
At 12:45pm, fans moved into the lower bowl to watch the voice of the Oilers, Jack Michaels, conduct a question and answer session with Oilers President & CEO Patrick LaForge and General Manager Steve Tambellini. Fan-submitted questions on topics such as the new downtown arena district, potential player moves, and the upcoming NHL entry draft were candidly addressed.
Following the "hot stove," Oilers coaches conducted practice. With a mic attached to his track suit, head coach Tom Renney explained the rationale for various drills and provided some insight into the practice process.
Stay tuned to edmontonoilers.com later this week for a video recapping the exciting event.
