Oilers Hockey School comes to Fort McMurray

“Fort McMurray has an incredible hockey community that’s growing every day,” said Oilers President and COO Patrick LaForge. “The Oilers and Cenovus Energy are very happy to bring our signature Oilers Hockey School program to Fort McMurray to help support and grow grassroots hockey in Oil Country.”
The new location will give young hockey players in northern Alberta an opportunity to participate in the popular Oilers Hockey School run in collaboration with the Okanagan Hockey School.
“We’re very excited that the Oilers Hockey School is coming to Fort McMurray with its excellent program that complements the player development goals we have set for our organization,” said Kevin Scoble, President of the Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association. “Through the years, many of our players have travelled to the Oilers Hockey School in Edmonton, I’m sure our players will welcome the opportunity to participate from the convenience of their home town.”
Players and goaltenders between the ages of 7-12 can sign up for the Regular Skaters Instructional Program, which covers all aspects of the game including skating, shooting, puck handling and passing. For Rep hockey players aged 10-12, the Elite Skaters & Goaltenders program covers advanced instruction for players at a higher level. The programs feature 2.5 hours of ice time daily and extensive off-ice training as well.
