General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenseman Alex Plante and assigned goaltender Martin Gerber and defenseman Richard Petiot to Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League.

Plante, 21, has a goal and 10 assists as well as 112 penalty minutes in 57 games this season with the Barons.

The 6’3”, 225-pound Brandon, Manitoba native has played four games in the NHL with the Oilers collecting one assist. In 106 career AHL games with the Barons and Springfield Falcons, Plante has 20 points (3G,17A) and 234 penalty minutes.

He was drafted by Edmonton in the 1st round, 15th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Gerber, 36, has played in 34 games with the Barons this season compiling a 19-12-3 record with four shutouts, a 2.49 GAA and .917 save percentage. He was recalled February 25 and played one game with the Oilers winning 2-1 over the Nashville Predators in a shootout.

The 5’11”, 200-pound Burgdorf, Switzerland native has appeared in 229 NHL games with a 113-78-7-14 record, 2.63 GAA and .911 save percentage.

Petiot, 28, has played in 46 games for the Barons this season recording 12 assists and 34 penalty minutes.

The 6’4”, 210-pound blueliner was recalled by the Oilers on Tuesday this week and appeared in two games going +1 with two penalty minutes.
