Print| Each week, edmontonoilers.com reviews all the top goals, saves, hits and fights and narrows it down to the final three. That means it's up to you, the fans, to decide which is the top play for the week. The Oilers started last week off with a win against the Nashville Predators, but unfortunately fell in the next three games. However, there were still plenty of plays worth talking about. Goals by Dustin Penner and Andrew Cogliano, and a great save by Devan Dubnyk made this week's list. Which one proved to be the best? Watch the clips and vote! Last week, a trio of goals by the line of Paajarvi-Gagner-Omark went head-to-head. The Spin and Score vs. LA just narrowly beat out the competition with 36.9% of the votes. Right on the Mark vs. Columbus was right behind with 36.5% of the votes, and Omark's Inner Gretzky move had 26.6% |
Hemsky & Penner Connect
Being down by only one goal in the second period against the Senators Saturday afternoon, the Oilers were just one shot away from tying the game. It only took one shot from Dustin Penner to do just that.With both Ales Hemsky and Penner racing to the net, Penner received a pass from his Czech linemate and fired a one-timer off the post and in, tying the game at two.

After coming off his first career NHL shutout, Devan Dubnyk was hoping to channel some of that magic in his next game against the Blackhawks. While the game did end in a loss, he did have an amazing save in the game.
At the start of the second period, Brent Seabrook found himself with nothing between him and Devan Dubnyk after receiving a well played pass from Tomas Kopecky. Dubnyk was able to stop the gold-medal winning defenceman. When Kopecky grabbed the rebound and fired again at Dubnyk, the young goalie was also up to the task. Two amazing saves in one play is why Dubnyk made the list this week.

Cogliano Capitalizes
A great goal by Andrew Cogliano opened the scoring for the Oilers in their matinee Hockey Day in Canada match-up against the Ottawa Senators, and it proved to be a highlight reel goal.
When the Senators scored the game's opening goal just 2:51 into the game, the Oilers were able to answer right back. A flurry of shots and good work along the boards made up the Oilers shift following the Senators' goal. But a nice, little pass from Jordan Eberle to Cogliano allowed the fourth-year forward to trickle the puck past Brian Elliott.
