Print| Each week, edmontonoilers.com reviews all the top goals, saves, hits and fights and narrows it down to the final three. That means it's up to you, the fans, to decide which is the top play for the week. The Oilers spent last week on the road, and while they only recorded one win in the four game road trip, there were still plenty of dazzling, and unconventional plays. This week, a Ryan Jones goal, Devan Dubnyk save, and unusual play by Jeff Petry are going head-to-head. Last week, Dustin Penner's game winning goal against the Islanders came out with the win with 48% of the votes. Penner's drive to the net beat out Brule's Backhand (29%) and Dubnyk's Cross-Crease Devial (24%). Who will win this week? Watch the clips & vote! |
Jones Starts and Ends It
With the Oilers down 2-1 in the third against Dallas, Ryan Jones was able to tie the game at 2 with a nifty play that he started and ended.
After grabbing the puck at the defensive blueline, Jones brought the puck up the ice, firing a shot at Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen. Lehtonen was able to make the save, but Liam Reddox fed the rebound back to Jones where he was able to score point-blank in the slot.

Dubnyk's Breakaway Save
When the game was 4-2 for the opposition, Dubnyk was called upon after a miscue on the Oilers powerplay sent the Kings on a breakaway.
With the Oilers on a powerplay midway through the third looking to get within one goal of the Kings, Kurtis Foster misplayed a pass from Ales Hemsky, allowing Kings forward Trevor Lewis to skate away on a breakaway. Devan Dubnyk stuck with the shooter, and was able to keep preserve the score.

Petry Stacks the Pads
When the Oilers were down 2-0 in the second against the Ducks, they were doing everything the could to keep the score close. No one did that better than defenceman Jeff Petry.
After Khabibulin made the initial save on Ducks forward Saku Koivu, the puck slipped out of his glove and Koivu was able to grab the puck again. With Khabibulin out of position, Petry came siding in on the goal line, robbing a sure goal from the Finn.
