Edmonton Oilers forward Linus Omark has been named to the American Hockey League Western Conference All Star Team today.
Omark, a 5’10”, 175-pound left-winger from Overtornea, Sweden has skated in 28 games with the Barons this season scoring 31 points (14-17-31). Currently with Edmonton, Omark has played in 11 games with the Oilers and has scored six points (1-5-6). Omark owns Barons’ season highs for goals in a game and assists in a game. He recorded five goals in the Barons’ 7-6 shootout win over Toronto on November 7 and followed that with a four-assist performance January 2 against Rockford.
Omark joins fellow Barons forward Alex Giroux on the All Star Squad. Giroux was named the playing captain and starter for the Western Conference All Star Team December 10. His selection as captain was for his service and leadership within the AHL. Giroux currently leads the Barons in scoring with 42 points (17-25-42). That point total is good for third in the league.
The 2011 AHL All Star Classic, presented by Capital BlueCross is January 30 – 31 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The event will begin with the All Star Skills Competition January 30 at 3 p.m. ET. The game January 31 will feature the Western Conference All Stars against the Eastern Conference All Stars.
Edmonton Oilers hockey is presented in part by the Rexall Family of Pharmacies, Molson Canadian, ATB Financial, TELUS, Cenovus Energy and Ford
