Dubnyk's Quick Pad Save

With the Kings charging for the lead midway through the third period of Thursday night's game, the Oilers needed a stop from their goaltender to help stem the Kings' unrelenting attack.

Devan Dubnyk provided that. After taking a pass in the slot, former-Oiler Jarret Stoll collected the puck for a brief moment before firing a half-slapshot on goal. Devan Dubnyk, while deep in his net, was able to track the shot nicely. The rookie goaltender threw out his right pad with cat-like reflexes as he turned the shot aside. Although the Oilers would ultimately fall in a shootout, this particular save provided the Oilers with an important single point.

O'Marra's First Career NHL Goal

In terms of beauty, Ryan O'Marra's first career NHL goal likely won't garner much attention. But the emotional attachment associated with the play is always a highlight reel moment.

Linus Omark collected the puck on the left wing where he then spotted O'Marra at the back door. Rather than forcing a pass through traffic, Omark elected to put a shot on goal. His shot was intentionally off the mark, as the deflected puck then found O'Marra's stick on the other side. With a wide-open cage to aim for, O'Marra made no mistake and celebrated in emphatic fashion.

Whitney's Second Goal of the Season

It's now a streak. Having gone 32 games without recording a goal, Ryan Whitney has now scored two in his past three games.

The veteran blueliner found himself on a two-on-one with Andrew Cogliano has he skated on his off-wing. Whitney looked to pass, but quickly reconsidered as he snapped a low wrist-shot on Cory Schneider to put his team up 2-0 over the Canucks.
