Eberle Goes Over the Top

With the Oilers down 1-0 early against the Toronto Maple Leafs, a spark was needed.

Sam Gagner and Jordan Eberle traded the puck back and forth before Gagner made a creative behind-the-back feed to the Oilers rookie. Eberle collected the puck at the top of the crease and, with great patience and smooth hands, lifted the puck under the bar to even the game 1-1.

Omark's First Career NHL Goal

From the moment he arrived, Linus Omark had plenty of fans in Edmonton. His first career NHL goal, however, created a cascading ripple of delight across Oil Country with his creative execution of what looked to be a basic play.

Omark chipped the puck in on goaltender Steve Mason, creating an intentional rebound. He then dashed through the zone, in the process beating four Blue Jackets defenders, where he met up with the puck. Omark lifted the stick of the final defender, as he kicked the puck through his legs and up to his own stick where the chance was cashed.

Omark-Penner Connection

As it turned out, Omark's first career NHL goal was just the appetizer on the night.

With Magnus Paajarvi doing incredible spade work behind the net, Omark eventually received the pass from his fellow countryman. Omark then made a beautiful no-look pass to a wide-open Dustin Penner at the top of the crease. Penner cashed and put the Oilers ahead late in the first period.
