The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation today officially launched the third annual Winner’s Choice Lottery, a unique lottery in Alberta where winners have the option to take cash on all prizes.

The prize package is headlined by the most valuable grand prize Showhome in Alberta and is located in South Edmonton’s Uplands of Mactaggart.  Custom built by Birkholz Homes, the Winner’s Choice Lottery grand prize boasts 5,000 sq. ft. of finished living space.  Features include original art, outdoor spa and retreat, as well as a virtual sports simulator.  The winner will have the option to take the home or $2,000,000 cash.

For the first time ever a new Ferrari will be awarded in a Northern Alberta charitable lottery.  The Winner’s Choice Lottery Early Bird prize is a 2011 Ferrari California. The winner will have the option to take the car or $250,000 cash.

With 3,100 prizes up for grabs lottery supporters will have a 1 in 25 chance to win a prize.

Natalie Minckler, Executive Director of the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation said, “With the most valuable grand prize showhome and the Ferrari early bird prize, plus the option to take cash on all prizes, we’re expecting big support.   Winner’s Choice Lottery has been around for only three years now and the proceeds raised are making a big impact on young lives in Edmonton and Northern Alberta.”

The proceeds from the Winner’s Choice Lottery will support the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation re-development of Edmonton’s Inner City High School. Over the years, the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation has gifted millions of dollars to hundreds of charities in our community who focus their activities on youth, education, health and wellness.

Winner’s Choice Lottery tickets are only $100 each; $250 for three or $375 for five.  For more information on the lottery visit For more information on the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation visit
Established in 2001, the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) continues the Oilers legacy of giving back by contributing its unique resources and financial support to charitable organizations that serve the communities of Northern Alberta. The EOCF raises its funds through a variety of fundraising initiatives that take place during Oilers home games and the generous contributions of Oilers fans and friends.

The Foundation gives back in excess of $1.3 million annually to charitable organizations registered with Revenue Canada whose programs support education and health and wellness for youth throughout Oil Country.
