First Taylor Hall jersey sold at Draft Party
Over 6,000 fans filled Rexall Place as Oilers chose first overall in L.A.
Within seconds of the announcement by Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini that the Oilers had selected Taylor Hall, fans rushed to the Oilers Store to purchase the first available Oilers crested Hall jerseys.
Over 6000 fans arrived at Rexall Place tonight to witness a landmark day as the Oilers selected first overall for the first time in franchise history. The Official Oilers Draft Party presented by ATB Financial included interviews and autographs with Oilers personalities Sam Gagner, Jordan Eberle, Ladislav Smid, Devan Dubnyk, Jeff Deslauriers and Tom Renney. Party guests were also given the chance to win one of 100 Hall jerseys. Taylor Hall, Oilers President of Hockey Operations Kevin Lowe and Hockey Hall of Famer Paul Coffey were streamed live into Rexall Place for exclusive interviews for Oilers fans in addition to a welcome from Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini.
“Tonight was an amazing night for Oilers fans and I can’t wait for next season to start,” said Oilers fan Andrea White. “I was lucky enough to take home one of the first Hall jerseys too.”
Rather than making the trip to LA, Oilers Head Coach Tom Renney wanted to attend the Oilers Draft Party to participate in the evening’s festivities and meet with fans.
With Draft fever at an all time high in Oil Country, this is a great time to be an Oilers fan. The Oilers Store at Kingsway Mall will be stocked with crested Hall jerseys starting at 10:00am on Saturday, June 26.
