Paajarvi had a goal and two assists to help lift Sweden to a 5-2 victory over Norway on Sunday night in Cologne, Germany.
His first assist came on his first shift of the tournament, working hard in the corner as he dug up the puck and dished it to Mattias Weinhandl for the goal.
Sweden roared out to a 2-0 lead but Norway battled back to tie it up at 2-2. In the third, Paajarvi helped break the deadlock when his wrister from the point was tipped in by Weinhandl.
Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson closed out the scoring with a quick shot from the right circle that Norway netminder Pal Grotnes got a piece of, but not enough to stop it from going across the line.
The Oilers prospect wasn't surprised that the Norwegians were neck-and-neck with the Swedes for most of the game.
"They have some very tricky players who can explode, like (Patrick) Thoresen and Zuccarello-Aasen," Paajarvi-Svensson said to IIHF.com. "They put two pucks in our net. We knew it was going to be a tough game, so it wasn't a surprise."
The former Oiler Thoresen scored one of Norway's goals.
