Oilers add D-men and two picks for Steve Staios and Lubomir Visnovsky

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Aaron Johnson and a 3rd round draft pick from the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenceman Steve Staios.
The club also announced it has acquired defenceman Ryan Whitney and a 6th round draft pick from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky.
Johnson, 26, had played in 22 games this season for the Flames recording a goal and two assists with 19 PIM.
The 6’2”, 211lb rearguard was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 3rd round, 85th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Whitney, 27, has played in 62 games with the Anaheim Ducks this season, scoring four goals and 24 assists with 48 PIM.
The 6’4”, 219-pound rearguard was originally drafted by the Penguins in the 1st round, 5th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
