Oilers acquire Whitney and 6th round pick from Ducks for Lubomir Visnovsky

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Ryan Whitney and a 6th round draft choice in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky. The trade is pending approval from the National Hockey League.
Whitney, 27, has played in 62 games with the Anaheim Ducks this season, scoring four goals and 24 assists with 48 PIM.
The 6’4”, 219-pound rearguard was originally drafted by the Penguins in the 1st round, 5th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
