With a rematch of each of the last three gold-medal games, "Super Sunday" lived up to its billing. Particularly the first two games as Russia ousted Czech Republic 4-2 followed by USA defeating Canada 5-3 later in the day.
In the Russia game, Denis Grebeshkov picked up two penalty minutes and a shot on goal in 12:03 of icetime. The victory propelled Russia to the quarterfinal round where they will now await the winner of Tuesday's game between Canada and Germany.
Lubomir Visnovsky scored the game's opening goal to help lead Slovakia to a convincing 6-0 win over Latvia in the team's final game of round robin play Saturday. Slovakia will play Norway on Tuesday with the winner going on to face Sweden.
On Sunday, Denis Grebeshkov's Russian squad plays the Czech Republic while Canada takes on the USA. Finland also meets Sweden on what is being termed as "Super Sunday" with the three rivalry match-ups all playing a huge role in who advances straight to to the quarterfinals as one of the top four seeds and who needs to play in an elimination match.
