It was a tough night for Canada as they battled through the game with Switzerland, a club with only two NHLers in their lineup.
A late second-period goal for the Swiss tied the game at 2-2 where is where it stood until the shootout period. In the shootout, Sidney Crosby scored in the sudden-death portion to give Canada the win. However, winning in extra time cost the team a point in the standings as only two points are awarded for a shootout win while three points are given for regulation victories.
Oilers defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky helped lift his Slovakia squad to a big upset win over Denis Grebeshkov and Russia. The victory also came in a shootout.
Visnovsky led all Slovak skaters with 25:11 in ice time. He had one shot on goal and an even rating. Grebeshkov also had an even rating with 14:47 of ice.
